LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
a) construct compound sentences using coordinating adverbs and conjunctive adverbs
b) construct sentences using simple past tense
c) write at least the introduction and 1 content paragraph

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher distributes worksheets containing an essay question which the students will do in class as part of revision for the examinations. She tells them to read the question silently for a minute.
b) Then, she asks them to identify steps 1 to 6 which they have learned in previous lessons. Step 1 is where they are to read the question which they have first done when they receive the worksheets. Step 2 is underlining the key words in the question where they are expected to identify that they are to write a recount and to use first person pronoun. Step 3 is to identify that they are to use simple past tense while step 4 will get them to list at least 6 useful words that they will use in their essay.
c) Step 5 is identifying the format for the recount where students are expected to say that they are to give their essay a suitable title and to write it in 6 paragraphs where the introduction should have at least 2 sentences, each content paragraph with 4 sentences and the conclusion will have at least 2 sentences where a moral value must be inserted.
d) Step 6 is organising the points. For this stage, the teacher guides the students in identifying points for their introduction, content paragraphs and the conclusion.
e) Finally, the students are told to write their essay on their own in the class. The teacher monitors their work and assists them.
f) Before the end of the class, the teacher reminds the students to complete the essay at home and to submit their books before the school holidays begin.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students managed to complete at least their introduction and 2 content paragraphs. The rest of the essay will be completed at home. Most of the students still needed help when it came to constructing compound sentences.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher tells the students to take out their textbooks and to look at each unit which will be tested in the coming examinations. She begins from Unit 1 until Unit 7.
b) As she facilitates the revision, she gets students to look at certain pages in each unit. She asks them to describe what they learn in each unit. Then, she asks them to spell out words as well as sentence structures taught in each unit. The teacher writes down important words and sentence structures on the board. She also gets them to read out the words and sentence structures out aloud.
c) Before the end of the lesson, the teacher calls out any students to give other examples of words or sentence structures that are not written on the board.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students remembered very little of what they have learned. The revision helped them to think of the learned vocabulary and sentence structures that will be tested in the examinations.
