At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
a) convert present tense verbs into their past tense forms

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher gets the students ready for the quiz by giving them 5 minutes to revise the list of past tense verbs that was given last week.
b) After that, she divides the class into two groups – boys versus girls. The students are to guess the past tense form of a verb which the teacher will act out in front of the class. Each team is given two minutes to guess after which the turn will be given to the other team if the correct answer is not given after the time.
c) Marks are totaled up before the bell rings. The reward is given to the winning team.
d) Before the lesson ends, the teacher tells the students to repeat after her as they read aloud each of the past tense forms of the verbs.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The teacher found out that the students could not always remember past tense forms of irregular verbs as these were the ones they had forgotten.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher asks the students what they have learned on Friday last week. They are expected to say that they learnt how to write their introduction using the 10 given examples that they teacher had given.
b) Next, the teacher distributes the worksheets again to the students. She tells them to study the second picture for 1 minute. Then, she asks them to describe what they can see on it. They are to say that they see people doing various activities such as walking, jogging and doing tai-chi exercise.
c) After that, the teacher gives them 5 minutes to work on their second paragraph using some words such as ‘once’, ‘when’, ‘as soon as’, ‘after’, ‘then’, after that’, ‘later’ and ‘as' to begin their paragraph.
d) At the end of the time, she reads a few examples of paragraphs from the students’ books. She comments on their sentence structures and vocabulary as well as any errors which she corrects on the board
e) Next, she tells them to continue to pictures number 3, 4 and 5. They are to complete this in the class.
f) Before the lesson ends, the teacher tells them to prepare the third paragraph using these three pictures as lesson on Tuesday will discuss this work.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students still made some minor errors using simple past and past continuous tenses

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher begins the lesson by asking the students what they still remember about simple past tense. The students are expected to say that past tense is used to describe actions that have taken place.
b) Then, the teacher draws a table on the board which divides it into three columns for nouns, verbs and objects.
c) Next, she distributes worksheets which contain a picture of people doing various activities. She asks them to identify what those activities are.
d) After that, she tells them to look at the table with the three columns. She illustrates on the board how to construct simple sentences with 3 or four words by looking at the given picture. She writes three examples and invites the students to give ideas to fill in the table with nouns, verbs and objects which they can see from the given picture.
e) Before the lesson ends, the teacher informs the students that she will give them another picture on Wednesday and they will learn to write more simple sentences in class.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students were encouraged to use past tense verbs which the teacher has given last week. Most of them have forgotten the list but after much help from the teacher, they were able to give only the nouns and verbs. The object part of the sentences are still quite challenging for them. More drilling is needed to help the students.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher continues Monday’s lesson by distributing the worksheets that were used on Monday to the students. She tells them to continue writing their third paragraph.
b) Once the students are done, she gets them to write the conclusion. The teacher explains how a conclusion for a recount is written by giving a list of words and phrases that denote a conclusion for a story.
c) When the students have completed their conclusion, the teacher reads a few examples. She comments on their conclusions and how to improve certain sentences.
d) Before the lesson ends, the teacher gives the students a sample for the essay, which the teacher reminds the students to read at home and to compare it with their essay by looking at the sentence structures and choice of words.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students complete their first essay. However, there are still some minor errors especially in the uses of past tenses. The teacher will give them another writing exercise in the class on Wednesday.

b) Next, she asks them to list down the words that they have used in their essays and to compare with a list from the teacher. She asks them to identify how the robber looks like based on the given picture.
c) After that, the students are given a sample recount on the board. The teacher tells them take down this sample into their exercise books.
d) Before the lesson ends, the teacher asks the students to identify compound and complex sentences that the teacher uses in the sample essay.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. However, the sample essay could not be completed in the class. The teacher will continue the sample essay on Friday.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher distributes new sets of worksheets to the students and tells them to study the six given pictures. She asks them to guess what the outcome of the story will be based on the layout of the story.
b) Next, the teacher explains what each picture means based on the given notes and asks them to add a few interesting words such as adjectives or adverbs that can be used in their description.
c) Once this is done, the teacher gives them 5 minutes to work on the introduction in the class. The students are encouraged to use the examples that the teacher has given last week when it comes to writing an introduction for a recount.
d) At the end of this time, the teacher chooses three introductions from three students. She reads their paragraphs and comments on their ideas as well as correcting some of their errors on the board.
e) Next, she gives them a sample introduction on the board which the students take down into their exercise books.
f) After this, the teacher tells them to construct three sentences for the second paragraph using the second picture. They are given 5 more minutes to do this on their own. The same process is repeated where the students complete this paragraph on their own and the teacher checking students’ work.
g) Before the lesson ends, the teacher tells them to construct the third and fourth paragraphs using the third and fourth pictures. They are to complete this in class before the bell rings as the teacher will check their work on Friday.
REFLECTION
This lesson was not thoroughly completed. The students only managed to construct the introduction and the second paragraph. The third paragraph was assigned as homework which the teacher will check during Friday lesson.

d) Then, she fills in the table with two examples of simple sentences that describe what the people in the given picture are doing.
e) After this, the students are told to use some given nouns, verbs and objects to construct four more simple sentences using simple past tense. They are given 10 minutes to do this on their own.
f) At the end of the time, the teacher calls students to write their own sentences in the table. She checks for any errors and if there are, she writes the correct sentences for them.
g) Before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds the students to bring their Literature booklets for a lesson on a poem.

This lesson was not completed. The teacher could not enter the class for she was required to attend a meeting at SMK Tarat with Mr. James and Mdm. Ammellia Nyatop to discuss the upcoming District level English Camp at SMK Tebedu. This lesson will be taught on Thursday.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher asks the students if they still remember the essay question on the literature component. The students are expected to say that they were told to write an essay on one moral value.
b) The teacher asks the students to identify some moral values that they have written in their essays. She listens to their responses and makes notes on the board.
c) Next, the teacher chooses the most simple and familiar moral value which the students can remember should this question is tested again in the coming PT3 English examination.
d) She gives them a mind map for this essay on the board together with the main ideas, elaboration and evidence from the novel. The students take this down into their books.
e) After this, the teacher illustrates on the board how the essay is written based on the mind map. She highlights the kind of sentences that she uses in order to make the essay more interesting to read.
f) Next, the teacher moves on to another topic for discussion. She writes the question on the board and explains how to answer it. She gets them to identify several interesting events from the novel and to brainstorm three main ideas for each of the interesting event.
g) Once this is done, the teacher helps the students by giving them only the topic sentences for the main ideas. The rest of this essay is to be completed as homework during the weekend and to be brought to school again on Monday for discussion in the class.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students were able to brainstorm a lot of interesting events with their main ideas. However, the teacher still needs to see how well they elaborate the main ideas into sentences. This can only be seen on Monday after the holidays.

a) The teacher tells the students to take out the essay that was assigned as homework on the previous Wednesday. She selects a few essays in random to be read in the class.
b) After reading some of the students’ essays, the teacher comments on some of the errors and shows how the errors can be corrected on the board.
c) Next, the teacher gives them a sample essay to be taken down as a source of reference for the students.
d) Once this is done, the teacher reminds the students to bring their Literature booklets on Monday after the end of the school holidays. The teacher also tells the students to hand in their books to be checked during the holidays.
REFLECTION
This lesson was completed. The students were able to construct paragraph 2 but of course with some grammar mistakes. Paragraph 3 was assigned as individual task which the teacher will mark during the holidays.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher does a quick revision of Chapters 1 to 13 in the class in order to help the students remember what they have learnt. Then, she moves on to reading Chapter 14 in the class. She gets the students to explain certain incidents or phrases in the chapter. She also pauses in order to help them to understand the meaning of certain words.
b) Then, before the lesson ends, the teacher asks several questions such as Phileas’ decision when the bandits attack the train, what Passepartout does to save the train passengers, what happens to him when the train stops and also how Phileas reacts when Passepartout goes missing.
REFLECTION
This lesson was not quite completed. The teacher could not finish reading the chapter. However, she managed to insert some of her questions in the reading of the chapter. This will be continued again after the one week school holiday.
