The teacher begins the lesson by asking the students what they still remember
about simple past tense. The students are expected to say that past tense is
used to describe actions that have taken place.
b)
Then, the teacher draws a table on the board which divides it into three
columns for nouns, verbs and objects.
c)
Next, she distributes worksheets which contain a picture of people doing
various activities. She asks them to identify what those activities are.
d)
After that, she tells them to look at the table with the three columns. She
illustrates on the board how to construct simple sentences with 3 or four
words by looking at the given picture. She writes three examples and invites
the students to give ideas to fill in the table with nouns, verbs and objects
which they can see from the given picture.
e)
Before the lesson ends, the teacher informs the students that she will give
them another picture on Wednesday and they will learn to write more simple
sentences in class.
|
REFLECTION
|
This
lesson was completed. The students were encouraged to use past tense verbs
which the teacher has given last week. Most of them have forgotten the list
but after much help from the teacher, they were able to give only the nouns
and verbs. The object part of the sentences are still quite challenging for

the literature component. The students are expected to say that they were
told to write an essay on one moral value.
b)
The teacher asks the students to identify some moral values that they have
written in their essays. She listens to their responses and makes notes on
the board.
c)
Next, the teacher chooses the most simple and familiar moral value which the
students can remember should this question is tested again in the coming PT3
English examination.
d)
She gives them a mind map for this essay on the board together with the main
ideas, elaboration and evidence from the novel. The students take this down
into their books.
e)
After this, the teacher illustrates on the board how the essay is written
based on the mind map. She highlights the kind of sentences that she uses in
order to make the essay more interesting to read.
f)
Next, the teacher moves on to another topic for discussion. She writes the
question on the board and explains how to answer it. She gets them to identify
several interesting events from the novel and to brainstorm three main ideas
for each of the interesting event.
g)
Once this is done, the teacher helps the students by giving them only the
topic sentences for the main ideas. The rest of this essay is to be completed
as homework during the weekend and to be brought to school again on Monday
for discussion in the class.
